obverse: the line interne geneeskunde has been places between the logos of the hospital and of the university. Turning the medal between the horizontal ‘ears’ you see the
reverse: a three-dimensional labyrinth reminding both to a mitochondrion and to a DNA molecule.

The legend Heel de mens has been written in two ways as the word ‘heel’ has two meanings in Dutch: both as declension of the verb ‘to heal’ and as the adjective ’entire’. So its meaning is as well an order as a way of looking to human beings.
